Bowen Island-based diving aficionado and marine protection advocate Adam Taylor captured this encounter with a giant Pacific octopus recently.
“Look for the small bulge under his mantle. That is part of my camera float system that he stole earlier in the encounter,” wrote Taylor on Facebook. “The walking locomotion always mesmerizes me and I love how he is oriented into the current and seems to be ‘scooping’ the water column to scent for prey or ???”
“For you biology types see if you can spot his hectocotylus (boy bits) around 1:35,” wrote Taylor.
