Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is kicking off the festive season with the enchanting concert Nov. 19 at Orpheum Theatre.

The Polar Express is a 2004 computer-animated adventure film based on the 1985 children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. The film follows the adventures of a young boy who boards a train and embarks on an extraordinary journey to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus.

The 1 hour and 40 minute concert is sure to ignite your Christmas spirit.

Silvestri is a two-time Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee. During his career he’s crafted music for many blockbuster movies, including the Avengers, Forrest Gump, Back to the Future 1 to 3 and Predator. Silvestri is giving an exclusive pre-show discussion about the score and his career, moderated by conductor Justin Freer at 6 p.m. at Pyatt Hall (limited to 100 seats), anyone interested in attending should RSVP here.
