The Delta Community Animal Shelter posted a feel-good story on Facebook Thursday.

Hunter, the cat in the picture, had been missing after scooting out the door of his family’s home over the Christmas holidays.

Hunter’s family sadly wasn’t able to find him and reported him missing to the shelter on Dec. 31.

“On February 11 a little orange cat that looked an awful lot like Hunter was admitted to our shelter as a stray,” the shelter’s post stated. “ When we contacted Hunters family they were so overjoyed, they dropped everything and came to see their boy. After an emotional reunion, Hunter was equally ecstatic to see his family again.

"We are so happy for Hunter and his family."

The shelter noted it’s a good reminder to ensure your pets have permanent identification like a tattoo (like Hunter did) or microchip and it is equally important to keep that information up to date.

There is a Pet Microchip Clinic coming up on February 23 at the shelter.
