One special Prince George cat has gone through quite a transformation this year.

Wanda, the fat feline adopted by Ospika Animal Hospital Veterinarian Dr. Jennifer McLachlan, has been on a weight loss journey to help her live a healthier and more active lifestyle since this time last year.

When six-year-old Wanda first came to Ospika Animal Hospital in Dec. 2018, she was so obese that she couldn’t walk easily or even groom herself.

It was difficult for her to walk because her wrists sank from carrying so much extra weight, so staff built her a special walker to help her move around and get some exercise.

The animal hospital’s nutritionist Michelle Moore also monitored Wanda’s strict diet of Royal Canine Calorie Control, which is what she used to help maintain Wanda’s muscle mass while losing weight.

Ospika Animal Hospital has been chronicling the cat's weight loss journey in a social media series called 'Weight Loss with Wanda.'

Now, a little over a year later, Wanda has lost almost one-third of her body weight.

She stared her weight loss journey at 30 pounds and is now down to 21.

“This is an incredible difference for a cat to make,” says Ospika Animal Hospital in its latest Weight Loss with Wanda post on Facebook.

“While Wanda is certainly not an athlete, she is now able to move around the house on her own and can go down the stairs. She has started to show some personality and it's clear to everyone that she is feeling so much better!”
