Vancouver 125 - PEAK Boot Camp 2011 by ThePEAKPP

Here's some more info:

Songs written by the 2011 PEAK Top 20 artists between July 1st and August 26th. Recorded in the wee hours of the morning at the PEAK Boot Camp, each of the artists was assigned one of 5 producers to produce their songs. These producers; Shawn Cole, Garth Richardson, Warne Livesey, Dane Deviller and Winston Hauschild worked around the clock to make these songs happened as each of them had 4 bands to produce and only 6 nights to do it in. Garth and Shawn also harnessed the power of Nimbus Recording Studio students to help with much of the work in the studios that were built in the bunkhouses at camp.

The challenge: write a song about Vancouver to commemorate Vancouver's 125th birthday. THen have the songs judged on the final night of camp.

The winners were:

1st Place: The Matinée - 'The Sinking of the Greenhill Park'

2nd Place: Lindsay Bryan - 'The Mainland'

3rd Place: Maurice - 'The Ballad of Luc Bourdon'

The Matinee won $500 — which they donated back to charity — and they won the honour of performing their award winning song at the Mayor's Arts Awards on October 6th.
