Hey guys! So, for the second year in a row, the crew at Media Democracy Day is excited to team up with VancouverisAwesome.com to bring you a night of fantastic local music and prizes in support of Media Democracy Days (MDD) Vancouver 2011.

Here is some info about MDD:

Now in its tenth year, MDD celebrates independent, alternative, innovative, and community-based media (like VIA!), and works across all kinds of communities to come up with new ways of making our media serve and represent the public interest before private profit.

This year, MDD takes place from November 11th to the 13th. On the 11th, the program kicks off with a screening of War Made Easy and a talk by Dr. Sut Jhally at the Pacific Cinematheque; on the 12th, MDD will be taking over the Central Library with a full day of panel discussions and keynote talks; and on the 13th, they wrap things up with a day of hands-on workshops that will show us how to make change in our communities. As always, the whole program is free, but seating is limited, so pre-registering through the MDD website is always recommended!

Now here is some info about the show!:

To raise some money to make this all happen, we’re throwing a party! Featuring tunes from amazing local acts Sidney York, The Ruffled Feathers, and The Belle Game, as well as prizes and giveaways from Nelson the Seagull, Sad Mag, Geist, Poetry is Dead, The Pacific Cinémathèque, the BC Book Publisher’s Association, Rain City Chronicles and more, this is a party not to be missed!

It all goes down October 20th at the legendary Railway Club, and is only $10 at the door! Doors open at 8 PM and things will get rolling shortly after. Come down! Party! Support awesome local projects! Confirm on Facebook today and for quick updates, follow MDD on Twitter at @MediaDemocDay.

---

I'll be there co-hosting, so make sure you come down and see some great music.

Thanks to Tyler Morgenstern (co-organizer of MDD) for all this info! <3
