More than 50 sites in Richmond — from art studios to agricultural farms and religious organizations — are opening their doors for the public to explore.
The 18th annual Doors Open Richmond, presented by the Richmond Museum, is taking place on June 7 and 8 this year.
This largely self-guided event gives community members a chance to learn about Richmond's diverse culture with unique experiences for free.
Highlights include exploring sustainable growing methods and locally grown crops at the KPU farms, learning traditions of paper making and book binding at Seawrack Press Studio and wine making at Lulu Island Winery.
Waitlists have started for two bus tours: The Sacred Spaces tour for visiting different places of worship and the Discover Doors Open Tour for visiting a variety of spaces, including The Sharing Farm, art studios and Athiana Acres.
Two new videos will also be screened at the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex Lounge and online for the public to learn more about participating organizations.
This year's videos will take a look at the behind-the-scenes of the Steveston Kendo Club, one of the oldest clubs of its kind in Canada, and the Gateway Theatre as they present their stage adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.
While most programs are available for walk-ins, some require advance registration.
