Canada's most famous literary figure will be making an appearance in connection with 2025 Vancouver Writers Fest.
Margaret Atwood will be talking about her life, which is the subject of her upcoming book Book of Lives. The autobiography will be published in November 2025.
"She'll share more about how her life has shaped her art, and vice versa, in this conversation spanning the entirety of her staggering career," according to the Writers Fest organizers.
Atwood's list of work includes The Handmaid's Tale, which won the Governor General's Award and was nominated for the prestigious Booker Prize (and was recently made into an Emmy-winning series). She's one of four writers to win the Booker Prize twice, for The Blind Assassin and The Testaments (the sequel to The Handmaid's Tale).
Other notable works include Alias Grace (which was also nominated for a Booker Prize and turned into a CBC TV series), Oryx and Crake (shortlisted for a Booker Prize and turned into an opera), and Cat's Eye (which was a finalist for the Booker Prize).
The Vancouver event, at the Orpheum Theatre, will take place on Dec. 9, and feature a "special musical element."
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. Vancouver Writers Fest members will get early access on Sept. 9.
The Vancouver Writers Fest runs October 20 to 26, however, its slate of special programming takes place from September through Decemeber, including Atwood's appearance.
