With summer heat dominating Vancouver's forecast lately, it might seem time for a water fight.
Good news, one is planned.
"Yippee ki-yay, waterfighters," reads the event page.
The 14th annual Vancouver Water Fight is planned, loosely, for Aug. 9 in Stanley Park.
"This is a free, unsanctioned event with no organizer, no tickets, and no instructions. Just show up near The Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park, [and] follow the sounds of the giggles and squeals to the Fox’s Den Spray Park," reads the event's page.
Costumes are encouraged, and one has been promised; "Ken" will be walking around in a nice suit.
"Man, it’s fun to shoot that guy," reads the description.
The event is for anyone of any age. There is a code of conduct with some basic rules of engagement.
- Have fun
- Don't shoot bystanders
- Things get slippery when wet, so be aware
- Bring a waterproof bag for things that aren't waterproof
- Aim for the body, but goggles or sunglasses are a good idea.
- If you're using water balloons, you have to clean up your water balloons
"The last rule of the Water Fight Club is, you do talk about the Water Fight Club!" reads the page.
