Taylor Swift is firmly in her The Life of a Showgirl era, with the music icon set to drop her next album Oct. 3.
But Swift's official fan engagement team, known as Taylor Nation, keeps sending Swifties scrambling into decode mode with cryptic messages on social media, including one on Thursday, Aug. 14, that pointed directly to Vancouver.
Eight months after The Eras Tour wrapped up with three sold-out nights at BC Place, Taylor Nation tweeted about losing "the key" in Vancouver.
We can't find the key! Lost it in Vancouver 😮💨 #TSTheLifeofaShowgirl https://t.co/iRZ8G8IF2l pic.twitter.com/p4Kl1eRVWb

Keys, locks, and doors have been significant symbols for Swift as the Eras Tour era segues into her Showgirl chapter.
For one, the Eras Tour stage was shaped like a key, and, as Swift confirmed on the New Heights podcast this week, her exit through the orange upstage door on the finale night Dec. 8 in Vancouver (the only time she didn't leave the stage via the usual descending elevator lift) was an intentional signal she was "exiting" the Eras era.
Hundreds of fans have commented on the tweet about the lost Vancouver key, calling Taylor Nation “suspicious” and speculating about what it might mean.
Of course, Vancouver Swifties (or those who came to Vancouver for the concert) are elated, with many of them posting photos of themselves at the BC Place Eras Tour shows.
"Lost it in Vancouver??? does this mean scavenger hunt for Vancouver Swifties?" asked @deedeedott.
Taylor Nation is famously cryptic, and Swift herself has admitted she sometimes leaves Easter eggs months or even years in advance.
The leading fan theory? That a documentary or second Eras Tour concert film is on the way, since all three Vancouver shows were professionally filmed.
It’s also possible the “key” reference ties into more content for the Showgirl era and album.
During her two-hour New Heights podcast appearance, Swift talked with hosts Jason Kelce and his brother, her boyfriend Travis Kelce, about how she wrote and recorded the Showgirl album while on the Eras Tour in 2024, giving her plenty of opportunity to plant hints in the shows.
While it's probably not advisable for Vancouverites to start roaming the city to look for any literal key, the fans who did attend any of those final three Eras Tour shows here may finally be at the end of an eight-month tease. Needless to say, Vancouver is "ready for it," whatever "it" is.
