I have no idea if there is such a thing as Seasonal Amnesia, but if there isn't, I'm going to coin and define it right here and now. Seasonal Amnesia is a phenomenon that effects a small percentage of the populace (like myself), and symptoms include giddiness towards longer days, increased vegetation density and warmer temperatures. Afflicted persons can be observed expressing amazement to even minute seasonal changes as spring finally breaks through the icy grip of winter. It is almost as if the subject has no recollection of these changes taking place every year. "I can't believe it's still light out at 8pm!"

Speaking of increased vegetation density, 'tis the season for community gardens, and Ruth and Dave have been submitting a number of lovely images this past week from a few gardens in the city. Urban gardening is a trend that is gaining momentum every year, and there is no reason to think that it won't continue to do so. I mean, it makes a lot of sense right? Pretty rewarding in several ways, and you might even get to know your neighbours a little better.

The photo below, Seedlings, is from the Pine Street Gardens that run beside the railroad tracks between Fir and Burrard. In the conversation that has taken place below the photo itself, Ruth (and Dave) mentions how her grandfather would have loved the neat rows - I know I sure do.

For more information about the many community gardens throughout the city, a good place to start might be the Vancouver Park Board's website here or the City of Vancouver's website here. And thanks for submitting all these garden shots Ruth and Dave - you are getting me really stoked for the summer.
