A long time from now in a venue quite, quite close, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will be giving his first talk in Vancouver.
The famed astrophysicist and science communicator will give a talk on the search for life in the universe on May 4 (aka Star Wars day), 2026. In the talk he'll look at the latest research and what discoveries are being sought right now.
"Dr. Tyson will guide audiences through the extraordinary journey of exploration, from the search for habitable planets and liquid water on Mars to the tantalizing quest for intelligent life beyond our solar system," according to a media release announcing the event.
Tyson rose to prominence in the early 2000s as a science communicator and advocate. He was appointed to multiple commissions by President George W. Bush, appeared regularly on the Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert, and hosted his own shows on PBS.
Since then he's gone on to become one of the most prominent science communicators in the world, appearing on everything from the Joe Rogan Experience to the Big Bang Theory to Logic's album Everybody (as god).
Prepare to expand your horizons as he challenges our understanding of civilization through the lens of science and ignites curiosity about the unknown.
