PEAK PERFORMANCE PROJECT - TV HEART ATTACK

The PEAK Performance Project is a seven-year, 5.29 million dollar contest open to all musicians in British Columbia. The project was created by Vancouver's very own 100.5 The PEAK and Music BC to develop BC based emerging artists.

Every year, twenty finalists from BC will receive an intensive, one week training program in the music business, live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion. From these, the top three will be crowned as the PEAK Performers of the year and will share $275,000 in cash for career development!

Over the coming weeks we'll be introducing you to all of this year's participating artists with quick interviews about the project, the other artists, and a little bit of Vancouver! Vote now for your favourite top 19 at www.peakperformanceproject.com.

Second up is TV Heart Attack, a rock group hailing from this fair city of ours. They’re playing The Cellar tonight, and the only way to get into the showcase is by listening to 100.5 The Peak FM to win tickets! Limited tickets will also be released at the door.

Who's your favorite artist(s) in the Peak Performance Project and why?

We’re nuts about two bands: It’s a tie between Sweetheart and Kuba. The latter because he looks like our favorite actor-Eugene Levy, and the former because of one band member’s painfully tattooed scrotum.

What was the most valuable thing you took away from Boot Camp?

The crash course in music biz 101 we received was priceless, pertinent, and vital. Also, those stainless steel waterbottles we were given are apparently worth $30 at Sportmart. Score!

What is one thing you wish you brought to Boot Camp, but didn’t?

DICE! You try playing Monopoly without dice! Isn’t there an iPhone app for that?

What’s your favorite venue to play at in BC?

The venue formally known as ‘The Plaza’ (and by The Venue, I mean ‘The Venue’) should be given high regards. David Hawkes has been good to us since the beginning and we’ve played there more times than any other place. The Commodore Ballroom is also a world class treat and every time is like the first time. A show you definitely bring your parents out to!

Where is your favorite hangout in Vancouver ?

All four members of TVHA have worked at Yaletown’s cornerstone martini lounge and weekend soiree-place-to-be: Section(3). This has been the breeding ground for any and all things TVHA for the past 4 years. When Art and Jay aren’t holding a tray or counting their tips, they love the staples: The Naam, Nuba, Subeez, and Downtown Sushi Bar feed them more than a broken parking meter, on weekly basis.

If you win the grand prize, what are you going to put the money towards?

The dream Art had when he set out to Vancouver 5 years ago was terribly naive: start a band, make a living. Winning the Peak Performance Project would be one romantic step in the right direction. Grant money would be put towards making his ambitious goals of touring the globe (performing TVHA songs) a closer reality. Like the missionaries of yesteryear, the good word of TVHA would be spread to the furthest corners of the earth; from the former battlegrounds of Ancient Mesopotamia- to the sparkling archipelagoes of the Aegean Sea. Then again, Art also suffers from delusions of grandeur.
