sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city...

What a fun week in music here in Vancouver...it saw the return of the Toque Sessions (this one ft Jasper Sloan Yip), an epic CD release for The Mocking Bird (see photos below), and a night at Cafe Montmarte ft Elliot C Way, Craig Mechler, Bob Sumner, Brian Sumner, Matt Campbell & Dave Newberry, Jarred Greff, Andy Bishop and the talented woman that put the whole night together, Missy Donaldson! I missed a few others due to sickness, but I will hopefully recover in time for this week, as it is looking to be awesome...

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: I'm going to see "Do You Want What I Have Got? A Craigslist Cantata", a play that is part of the PuSh festival, created by Bill Richardson and Veda Hille. Check out the show dates/times here! Thursday the Toque Sessions are back again, this time with David Newberry (click here to see all of the concerts and RSVP ASAP!) at the CBC. After that, head over to the Biltmore for the first Vancouver "Unsigned" concert presented by Steamwhistle...ft Sidney York, Treelines, and The Ruffled Feathers! Friday sees the return of Rain City Chronicles - stories under the theme 'What Feeds Us" and music by Reid Jameson - get your tickets here! Saturday The Pack AD return from touring with a show at the Rickshaw Theatre!
