Still Awesome (#ThisIsMyVancouver)

For the past three and a half years V.I.A. has been bringing you only the most awesome things concerning your city, the people, places, arts and culture and everything within it.

For the past three and a half years V.I.A. has been bringing you only the most awesome things concerning your city, the people, places, arts and culture and everything within it. With a celebratory mandate we don't report on "ugly/bad" news; we're the web site that we encourage you to visit after you've caught up on current affairs and just need an excuse to feel good and proud about where you live. Part of our whole thing over here is to help boost civic pride, so don't be surprised if this ends up being one of the only posts we make about what happened in our city last night.

As I drove towards the V.I.A. office downtown this morning, physically depressed, I was so surprised and uplifted to see quite literally HUNDREDS of regular citizens out in the streets with brooms, dustpans and garbage bags cleaning things up! I can pretty much guarantee you that the amount of people volunteering their time to help out today far outnumbers the amount of people directly involved in last night's ruckus, and I can also guarantee that I honked my horn a lot and gave a lot of thumbs up today.

Hold your heads high, folks: Vancouver. Is. Awesome.
