Summer days are slowly winding down in the Lower Mainland, although there are still a few weeks to enjoy golden rays and warmer temperatures.
Taves Farms in Abbotsford invites locals to enjoy the sunshine and walk through rows of vibrant blooms, stopping along the way to snap photos in charming spots, including unique features such as a "whimsical bridge," a vintage bike, and several fairytale gnomes in their new home.
The Magic of Sunflowers kicked off on Aug. 21 and runs through Sept. 7. The farm encourages guests to set an intention and release a butterfly among the sunflowers.
As the sunlight wanes, golden hour produces a magical hue along the rows of stately sunflowers, and guests can stroll and sip cider or cocktails through the evening.
The concession area includes everything from freshly-roasted corn to pumpkin-spiced lattes. However, food trucks are also available on select dates.
Taves Estate Cidery has a covered and heated patio and offers soft apple ciders and mocktails, along with seasonal cocktails and ciders...even a pumpkin cider.
What other things are there to do at the farm?
Guests can bounce on a giant jumping pillow or ride cute pedal karts. In Farmville, there is a petting barn, complete with bunnies and goats, as well as cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks, and a turkey nearby.
Adventurous guests can embark on a quest to discover five hidden chalk stations. Each one is marked with a magical animal and colour. Visitors who collect all five can return them to the maze gate to do their final challenge.
Taves Farms is roughly a 90-minute drive from downtown Vancouver. Gate prices are $3 more per ticket, so Taves recommends you purchase them in advance.
