With almost 1000 artists (yes, ONE THOUSAND!) submitting their work to be included in The Cheaper Show #9, curator Lisa Giroday had a fairly substantial task on her hands to weed it down to 200. A couple hundred artists showing in a single exhibition is huge, the fact that around 750 didn't make the cut is equally bonkers! I connected with Lisa at the party that they put on this past weekend where they announced the selected artists and we talked a bit about the process and the criteria, and about how she was nervous that somebody might take offense to not being included and decide to knock her out. No need to worry, Lisa, I assume that the artists who didn't get chosen to show their work understand, and that the couple hundred who did will be delivering you some much-deserved hugs.
