Resident Alien will be filmed in downtown Vancouver on September 29, 2021. Areas of Hornby Street and Hastings will be transformed into New York City.

Fans of a popular science fiction TV show may spot actors in Vancouver this week.

Production company GEP Resident Inc. is filming Resident Alien in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday (Sept. 29).

The shows airs on SYFY (short for Sci-Fi Channel) and stars Alan Tudyk as an alien named Harry. Harry assumes "the identity of a small-town Colorado doctor and slowly begins to wrestle with the moral dilemma of his secret mission on Earth," according to IMDb.

The show recently won Best Cable Series Comedy at the Hollywood Critics Association awards.

The resident notification letter states that filming will take place on Wednesday on the east side of the 400-block of Hornby Street from 7 a.m. until roughly 10 a.m. After that, the production will move to the north side of 700 West Hastings Street until approximately 1 p.m.

Filming activities will include exterior scenes of characters walking and talking in New York City. Both scenes include a larger group of background performers as the crew is "simulating downtown New York."

There will be temporary "No Stopping" zones commencing after 7 p.m. on Tuesday night until noon on Wednesday.

Vancouver Police will be present for safety.
