Thomas Muller is expected to start his career with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, Aug. 17, as the team hosts the Houston Dynamo at BC Place.

Vancouver soccer fans are about to see the debut of the biggest name the team has ever had on its roster: German star Thomas Muller.

While the Vancouver Whitecaps are already having an epic 2025, sitting near the top of the MLS, ranked among the best teams in North America, and making it to the Concacaf Champions Cup Final, the hope is Muller will help put them over the top.

Muller's expected to make his Whitecaps debut this weekend as the team takes on the Houston Dynamo at BC Place on Sunday, Aug. 17.

The Dynamo are 12th in the MLS's western conference; the Whitecaps are in second.

The hype around Muller has been big in recent days, with an official greeting party at the airport, press conferences, photo shoots and more.

And it seems like fans are excited as well, as there are few tickets left for the game.

Pre-game

Before the game, there will be a march to the match starting at 4:45 p.m. (15 minutes before gates open to all ticketholders).  The march starts at Granville and Smithe and ends at Robson and Beatty streets, entering the fan plaza area near Gate H.

Gates open one hour before kickoff for each game; Sunday's kickoff is at 6 p.m. so fans can enter at 5 p.m. Premium ticket holders can enter 90 minutes ahead of kickoff through Gate H.

Tickets

While the lower bowl of BC Place has nearly sold out (and the upper bowl isn't open) there are still some sections with tickets, particularly the family zone.

There are also lots of single tickets and some resale seats spread out through the stadium.

Tickets start at $42, with the cheapest ones located behind the western goal.

Transportation

TransLink doesn't have any notable alerts for SkyTrain or SeaBus service on game night.

Hullo is not running a late-night ferry over from Vancouver Island on game night.

Restrictions

BC Place has a firm bag policy, with bags no larger than 6.5 inches by 8.5 inches allowed, unless they are transparent bags. Clear bags are allowed to be 1 foot by 1 foot by 6 inches. BC Place's full bag policy is on its website.

Staff will be outside alerting people to the bag size restrictions and directing people with larger bags to a bag check, which costs $10 and must be done before entering the stadium.

Exceptions can be made for medically necessary bags.

Certain items are prohibited, including large cameras with detachable lenses, posters and signs, drones, outside food, selfie sticks, and large bottles (even empty).

Certain sections (201 to 207 and 248 to 254) are for Whitecaps supporters groups. That means many fans will be standing, chanting and singing, and opposing team fans (and opposing team colours) won't be allowed in those areas.

The Dynamos colours are light blue, orange and black.

Cashless venue

BC Place is a cashless venue, so be sure to bring a different way to pay. Cash is no longer king in the stadium.
