The sound and light night walk experience is now open at Cougar Mountain, just eight minutes north of Whistler Village.

Vallea Lumina was created by Montreal-based Moment Factory and is operated by The Adventure Group (TAG).

"We think there's huge value in connecting people with special places," says Joey Houssian, TAG founder and CEO. The company offers a collection of activities and tours in Whistler from whitewater rafting and snowshoeing to axe throwing.

Vallea Lumina marks Moment Factory's eighth night walk experience and was completed over a period of 10 months.

Jonathan St-Onge, general manager of Moment Factory's Lumina projects, says the team takes inspiration from the local culture and natural beauty of the site to create magical moments. "It's not about doing a light and sound show. It's about creating a story -- putting people into an unfamiliar environment and bringing them into a fantastic world."

The hour-long walk takes visitors on a 1.5 km trail through old-growth forest where they encounter notes on the trees, maps, and projections that advance the story.

Kids get a chance to interact with lights on a ranger station and there are plenty of photo opportunities. Rangers are stationed along the trail to answer questions and steps are well lit to ensure safety.

A complimentary shuttle service is provided to transport visitors between Whistler Village and Cougar Mountain to Vallea Lumina. Tickets cost $29 for adults (16+), $24 for youth (6 to 15 years) and admission is free for children five years and under.

The first show starts at sundown and new groups enter every 20 minutes until the last booking at 11 p.m.

Vallea Lumina runs daily until October 15 and more details are available on TAG's website.
