Vancouver Symphony shares funny Star Wars song from home for May the 4th (VIDEO)

Enjoy, and May the 4th be with you!

Star Wars fans across the globe have enjoyed marking May the 4th as a de facto celebration of all things related to that beloved long, long time ago and galaxy far, far away.

Vancouver Sympony Orchestra musicians are also far away from their usual routine and performing for ticket holders at the Orpheum, but they still have their chops and their sense of humour intact.

To mark May the 4th, VSO musicians Julia Lockhart (bassoon), Karen Gerbrecht (violin), Michelle Goddard (clarinet), Vern Griffiths (percussion), and Malcolm Armstrong (bass) put a recording together as a fun “virtual” project to add to #MayThe4th celebrations.

They've cut the socially-distant rendition of the famous and toe-tapping Cantina Band song with clever moments from the movie classic, as well as with some added dancing from some of the kids of VSO members. Keep your eye on percussionist Griffiths, who played in his kitchen using a most unusual set-up - how many familiar items can you spot on his counter kit?

Enjoy, and May the 4th be with you!
