Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars is married to director Sofia Copolla. They met over the soundtrack to Copolla's film The Virgin Suicides, which was produced (in part) by Mars (including music by the very excellent band Air, who are labelmates of Phoenix).
I love, love, loved The Virgin Suicides, had issues with Lost in Translation (don't hate me - I just think it was overrated) and loved the concept of Marie Antoinette (pouffy dresses! Louis XIV heels! Jason Schwartzman! The Cure on the soundtrack!) more than its execution.
