The Whip Burger is a signature menu item at The Whip. The Mount Pleasant restaurant is closing on Jan. 14, 2022.

A Vancouver restaurant known for its comfort eats - including a beloved burger - is set to shutter this month after over 25 years.

The Whip, located at 209 East 6th Ave in Mount Pleasant, will hold its final service on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, according to a media release.

The neighbourhood joint has a pub-style vibe and a menu loaded with hearty, approachable fare, like chicken pot pie, appies, and a calling-card "Whip Burger," and plenty of craft brews on tap.

While The Whip is winding down, the venue is set to be reborn under new ownership, though details of the concept are still under wraps. At the helm now is Cody Allmin, who is behind Published on Main, Twin Sails Brewing, and the forthcoming Novella

“We have some exciting ideas coming, which we will announce very soon," teased Allmin in a media release.

The Whip is open Wednesday to Saturday from 3 to 11 p.m.
