Here's where to get your hands on breakfast tacos in Vancouver

Suddenly all you're thinking about is tacos, right?

What are the odds you aren't already craving tacos, just based on their mere mention? When the craving strikes, it can be hard to wait to get your hands on these hand-held wonders of the culinary world. If it happens to be morning, the good news is there are a few places in and around Vancouver that are loading up tortillas to make breakfast tacos. And, hey, it doesn't hurt that Vancouver is considered Canada's capital for Mexican food.

While you'd have to head to a place Austin, Texas, to get a handle on just how much of a serious thing breakfast tacos can be, there are some restaurants closer to home that have worked the portable a.m. dish into their daily or weekend offerings.

You can add guac on the side for and extra couple of bucks, or make it a full-on plate with roasted yam and potato hash for a few bucks more. Bandidas is also super vegan-friendly, so you can make some swaps to enjoy totally plant-based breakfast tacos, too.

La Margaritas

Kitsilano's veteran Mexican restaurant Las Margaritas serves up brunch weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They have a small brunch menu, but it's loaded with some classic loaded breakfast platters. Their breakfast tacos dish is comprised of  three free-run eggs scrambled with pico de gallo, heaped in a pair of corn tortillas along with refried beans, cheddar cheese, pickled onions and cilantro. On the side are crispy breakfast potatoes and some chipotle mayo. You can add on either or both ground chorizo and guac to make these extra packed. This is for sure a spot where you want to pair your brunch with something to drink besides plain ol' coffee, and La Margaritas has grapefruit or orange mimosas, Mexican hot chocolate, Caesars made with tequila, horchata, or Micheladas (beer with Clamato juice).
