Heritage Asian Eatery's Mount Pleasant location (on West Broadway at Cambie) is shaking things up with the launch of their new Chinese BBQ menu, which join the existing roster of popular baos and bowls on offer.

The modern Asian restaurant's new menu includes Soy Chicken, BBQ Duck, BBQ Pork, and Premium Cut BBQ Pork, which are available in portions or combo portions on rice or in half or whole quantities a la carte. Additionally, you can get a Heritage chicken by the half or whole.

For many, a craving for Chinese BBQ means a visit to Richmond to one of a couple of stars in the specialty in our region, or a trip to Chinatown. Heritage's Chinese BBQ is a worthy addition to the ranks: the lacquer on their juicy, supple pork has a lovely sticky, chewy quality, while their duck has a wonderful layer of deep five spice flavour and the pieces are plump and soft. Their soy chicken is also meaty and moist, with that dreamy salty glistening skin. The sauces and juices pool on the plate and make the perfect drizzle for your rice.

Also available to go with your BBQ feast are some new sides, like chili wontons, wonton soup, dumplings in crispy shrimp and pork and veggie varieties, and Taiwanese potstickers. Their crispy shrimp dumpling is a bit of a star, thanks to its big juicy nuggets of shrimp and golden fried wrapper.

If you can manage to save room for dessert, Heritage has added milk custard with your choice of topping, such as coffee or brown sugar pearls. While the coffee packs a punch and will perk up your afternoon or evening, their gently sweet brown sugar pearls have a terrific texture and have that perfect amount of slight burnt sugar flavour to balance the creaminess of the custard.

You can enjoy the Chinese BBQ menu in the restaurant, or do take-out, both available seven days a week, and, heads up, they offer a 10% discount for take-out orders.

The Chinese BBQ menu, however, is solely available at their Broadway location. You'll find all the rice bowls, noodles, and baos you love there, too, and those core og dishes still are the star of the show at their Coal Harbour location. Plus, we can look forward to Heritage Asian Eatery launching soon at YVR, as part of the airport's huge food and beverage and retail expansion.

As an intro special, Heritage's Broadway location will offer a Four Treasure Rice special from Aug. 26-30, which will include BBQ pork, BBQ duck and soy chicken as well as a Heritage-style ramen egg on a bed of rice. The Four Treasure Rice will be priced at an auspicious $13.88 per bowl, with a one-bowl per customer limit for dine-in only.

Heritage Asian Eatery is located at 382 West Broadway in Vancouver, and they are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
