Off the Grid Waffle Cafe on Fraser Street in Vancouver shut down earlier this year. The space will soon be home to a new Indian restaurant.

After a decade Off the Grid Waffles has closed up permanently.

The waffle cafe, which offered sweet waffles and savoury options (including with fried chicken), originally opened a brick-and-mortar location on Kingsway in 2015; a few years later, in 2019, they moved over to 5943 Fraser St.

Known for unusual and attention-grabbing waffle-based dishes, it appears the cafe closed down this spring. A "gone out of business" classification has been posted for the location in the the city's business licence database, and the social media accounts have been inactive for a few months. The physical location has also been shuttered.

However, the restaurant space on Fraser appears to be under renovation, with papered-over windows, and a new business appears to be taking over.

A new business license has been registered for a new restaurant called The Biryani Republic. Currently, the new restaurant does not appear to have a web presence.
