Leaving only one with the name in the region now

Vancouver-based craft beer restaurant Biercraft's location at UBC Wesbrook Village closed permanently on May 1, 2023.

Biercraft - as we know it - has shuttered its remaining Vancouver location, leaving just one of its brewpub restaurants standing in the region.

The craft beer restaurant revealed that May 1 was the final day of operations for its outpost at UBC's Wesbrook Village. Owners state they intend to open a new concept in its place. Details about the new venture have not been made available.

In December 2022, Biercraft closed up one of its original locations in Vancouver's Cambie Village.

The remaining Biercraft is its UniverCity location at SFU in Burnaby.

Biercraft - in name - goes back to 2010, when its then-owner/operator The Incendio Group renamed its Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar and Stella’s Bierstro beer bar/restaurants after five years in the game. The name change was sparked by a trademark dispute. At the time, Biercraft boasted the province's longest list of Belgian beers.

After a rebrand, Biercraft reopened its Commercial Drive restaurant in 2021 as Community Taps + Pizza (and it is possible that's the plan for UBC).

"While our store comes to a close, something new and exciting is coming to the neighbourhood," Biercraft teases in its farewell post to UBC Wesbrook.
