There is a switch-up happening on Robson Street as a local French bakery is rebranding under new ownership.
La Belisse is the new name of the bakery-café at 1126 Robson St. The treat shop had previously been the second location of Vancouver's Foret Noire Patisserie.
As of May 15, many vestiges of Foret Noire remain, including exterior and interior signange, however, the La Belisse team says on its Instagram account the changeover will be completed this month.
Foret Noire began on West Broadway in 2018 before expanding to add its Robson shop in 2022.
For the past few weeks, however, change has been underway as the business transitioned into its new identity as La Belisse.
A business licence for La Belisse was issued in mid-April.
V.I.A. reached out to La Belisse and Foret Noire at the time regarding business changes but did not receive a response from either.
According to a social media post on the newly switched-over Foret Noire Robson/La Belisse Instagram page, the original kitchen team from Foret Noire is in place at La Belisse and will continue to be executing a menu of French pastries.
The menu includes specialty croissants, tarts, and cakes (individual and whole), served in a café setting.
V.I.A. has tried to contact Foret Noire regarding the status of its original Broadway location but the business' voice mail box is full and they have not replied to emails. The Facebook page has been inactive for a few months and the Instagram account is gone. The shop itself was closed during regular business hours during a recent attempt to visit them in person.
