While Vancouverites have their PNE, in the Fraser Valley, it's the annual Abbotsford Agrifair that draws crowds summer after summer since 1911.
With COVID-19 forcing the Agrifair to put the brakes on the 2020 season, the Fraser Valley's "Best Little Country Fair," is taking a page from the PNE's playbook, and will be hosting a Mini Donuts drive-thru event of their own.
Called "BC's Best Mini Donuts," the event will take place June 19 through 21 on the Agrifair grounds, and will feature four popular mini donut vendors.
Here's who will take part:
- Cin City Mini Donuts: Owned and operated by Nate and Leila Simpson. Their mini donuts are "Always Fresh, Made Right Before Your Eyes"
- Mini Donut Factory: Debuting their brand new donut factory, they are stoked and honoured to share with you what they believe is B.C.'s Best Mini Donuts
- Those Little Donuts: Originally designed for Disney, they have called the PNE home for the last 45 years. This is the first time they have ever been available in BC outside the PNE fairground
- Tin Lizzy Mini Donuts: Their mini donuts have been a staple at all fairs and festivals
Guests with pre-purchased tickets will drive through the venue and collect their donuts from each of the vendors.
This fundraiser, which was a rousing success for the PNE, is what Agrifair organizers say will offer "a taste of what to come next" as they "work on an alternative post pandemic version for our 2020 fair."
The Abbotsford Agrifair was slated to take place July 31 to August 2, 2020, over the B.C. Day long weekend.
Tickets to BC's Best Mini Donuts include passes to the 2021 Agrifair.
