'Exotic' bodega opening second Vancouver global snack shop

"It's going to be a beautiful beautiful thing." (And it's right next to a donut shop and a weed store.)

Just in their second year of business, the guys behind Lucky's Exotic Bodega are opening a second location.

The exotic snack shop is heading to East Vancouver, setting up in a space next to Duffin's Donuts (and a cannabis store) at 1361 East 41st Ave.

The business, run by three childhood friends from Vancouver, specializes in global snacks and foods; not traditional foods though — more Starburst gelatin (Jello, without the copyright infringement), Oreo pie crusts and smoked pheasant and wild mushroom potato chips.

"What we specialize in is snacks from around the world," co-owner T.J. (Tim) Voss told Vancouver Is Awesome when interviewed about the first store opening.  "So America, UK, Asia, those are the three major places we get our snacks from."

The eclectic selection has been successful at their current location on East Hastings just a couple of blocks from the PNE. The second store will be a little more finessed says Martin Sahami, one of the three 'Bodega Boys.'

"The in-store experience is really going be what sets us apart," he tells Vancouver Is Awesome. "It's going to be a beautiful beautiful thing."

They're currently working to set the new store up and while an exact date hasn't been set they're hoping to welcome customers later this summer.
