Commercial Drive's Falconetti's East Side Grill has quietly closed

Falconetti's East Side Grill, the Commercial Drive restaurant-bar known for their live music and sausages, has quietly closed the business down.

The Italian-tinged eatery was the project of Carmine Falcone, who opened up the restaurant on the same spot where his father, Pasquale Falcone, ran his butcher shop. Though the menu strayed from being strictly Italian, Falcone did make sure to keep the house-made sausages on the menu.

Those sausages were what brought Falconetti's much acclaim in its heyday--the restaurant was even featured in the 2012 "Meat Madness" episode of the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

A V.I.A. reader tipped us off that Falconetti's seems to have just "disappeared." The last geo-tagged image on Instagram at Falconetti's is dated February 14, 2018. The restaurant's own Twitter and Facebook have not been updated since December 30, 2017. A call to the restaurant was a dead end: The number is no longer in service.

It's unclear what led to the demise of Falconetti's, however it is apparent they have decided to shut down. We'll have to see what moves into the space at 1812 Commercial Drive, and if they revive what had been a pretty popular second-level patio.
