Village Curry in Steveston is moving to a new location.

A curry restaurant in Steveston is expanding its business one block closer to Fisherman's Wharf.

"Coming soon" signs for Village Curry were spotted at a restaurant space on Bayview Street.

The local family-run Indian curry business, which opened in Steveston in 2021, already has a space on Moncton Street, but will be expanding its dine-in space in the new location.

The restaurant is known for its Punjabi cuisine, including 12 different curries, Indo-Chinese and vegetarian platters, lamb, chicken and vegetable biryani and more.

An employee at Village Curry said the new and bigger space will allow for a more comfortable eating area and is hoping to open this month, but this will depend on permit approvals.

Despite the move, Village Curry plans to keep their Moncton location and turn it into a chicken and roll place soon under Village Curry's management, confirmed Harpreet Gill, founder of Village Curry.

The restaurant's new space was previously occupied by 50s Burger, a Burnaby-based diner-themed burger joint.

While the burger spot's Steveston location opened in Spring 2024, it appears they closed shortly after a year around January.

Before that, the space used to be Cocoru Beer & Chicken.

Village Curry's new restaurant space will be at 3791 Bayview St. in addition to its Surrey location at 13737 72 Ave.
