You gotta like it when your friend posts where to get free figs, when he knows full well that the tree is pretty much bare. I climbed that sucker last week end and there wasn't much left. I'm all about free fruit but unfortunately, figs are a much more private deal, and garden raids just aren't cool.....I know the difference between right and wrong....
For whatever reason though, I think soliciting free figs on Craigslist is perfectly fine. So like my Christmas cake rescue program, I'm reaching out to give figs a new home where they will not fall prey to insects, birds, or heaven forbid rot on the lawn.
If you've never tried one of these suckers, you need to, and they're all over the city. It's a bit of a leap of faith to squish open and start sucking on a fruit that came off the lawn of that old Italian guy who lives down the street, but mmmm.....
