A French bakery chain with hundreds of locations around the world has doubled its footprint here in Vancouver - the city that's home to its first Canadian cafe.
Paul, with an origin story that dates back to 1889, set its sights on Vancouver back in early 2020 when it revealed plans to debut the brand in the Great White North with a bakery-cafe restaurant on Robson Street.
The Robson Street Paul Bakery opened in May 2021, amidst ongoing dine-in restrictions in place in B.C. due to the pandemic.
Now Paul has just opened the doors to its second location in the city with a cafe on the ground floor of the Vancouver Centre II building at 733 Seymour St.
A representative for Paul Bakery tells V.I.A. by email the newest location is in its "soft opening" mode and will hold a grand opening on May 21.
Paul is known for its pastries and sweet treats, bread, and sandwiches, and, at its larger restaurant locations, its menu of casual French fare, including quiche, crepes, and salads, as well as combination meals, drinks, and kids' selections.
At the new Paul Le Cafe, guests will find an "authentic French coffee experience, complete with delicious Viennoiseries, delectable pâtisseries, and crispy macarons," according to the brand.
During the soft opening phase, Paul Le Cafe in Vancouver is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
