Gluten Free at The Wooden Shoe

Not ever in my wildest gluten free, dairy free, garlic free, celiac dreams did I ever think I would be able to eat a glorious Dutch Pannekoek. Well my prayers have been answered.... The Wooden shoe on Cambie St.

Not ever in my wildest gluten free, dairy free, garlic free, celiac dreams did I ever think I would be able to eat a glorious Dutch Pannekoek. Well my prayers have been answered....

The Wooden shoe on Cambie St. has been serving up these gluten and dairy free Pannekoeks (Dutch pancake) for a little while now. The gluten/dairy free version is cooked in a special pan to avoid any cross contamination, and even comes in a different shape... SQUARE! I think square tastes way better than round for sure. The flavour is pretty much the same as a regular pannekoek from what I can remember and available with all the same toppings. Check out Vancouver Slop ( http://www.vancouverslop.com/2009/02/dutch-wooden-shoe-cafe.html ) for the low down on their other delicious eats, then do yourself a favour and go try it out.... especially if you're allergic to wheat and dairy like myself.

As an added bonus I was joined in spirit by Vancouver Is Awesome's own Suede Peterson and his friend Rob, immortalized on the wall at my table. Thanks for joining me for breakfast guys, it was great to see you as always.
