Granville Island has long been considered a favourite food fan destination in Vancouver, but because of COVID-19 restrictions and concerns, this has been a challenging year for many of its vendors.

One business owner who is well-acquainted with Granville Island is Michlle Ng of Vancouver Foodie Tours. Among the tours the business offers is one of Granville Island, giving participants tastes of some of the best of the destination.

Like so many Vancouver businesses, however, COVID prompted Ng to pivot her business model, and she has since launched Granville Island "Foodie Delivery," which brings foods from the market to you.

Housed now on its own website, the newly-minted Granville Island Delivery Co. (GIDC), showcases vendors Vancouverites - and visitors - have long enjoyed, like Lee's Donuts, Bon Macaron, Siegel's Bagels, Oyama Sausage and many more.

You can shop by vendor or product, or you can choose from curated collections, like the monthly Market box, which features seasonally-focused items hand-selected by Ng. There are also gift sets with collections of goods, or special bundles like cheese boards from Benton Brothers.

Round out your shopping with some of the non-food items you can purchase, like greeting cards, and this most unexpected year's must-have, the washable non-medical face mask.

Additionally, via the GIDC platform, you can support the vendors through the #granvilleislandluv initiative. Shopping on the site is a way to help those businesses, but you can also make a donation with your purchase. And $5 from every curated bundle is donated directly to a Granville Island artisan in need.

“We are excited to provide our support for Granville Island merchants,” says Michelle Ng, president & founder of Granville Island Delivery Co. “It’s more important than ever to support local merchants, artisans and their craftsmanship. With Granville Island Delivery Co., our aim is to spread joy with each package, while uplifting the Granville Island community.”

GIDC ships for free within Vancouver and offers a $10 discount for courier service in the greater Vancouver area for orders $99 and up. Shipping rates across the Metro region are scaled from $10-35, and orders are delivered in about two to four days after ordering on a day of your choosing. All deliveries are contactless, and can be arranged for up to a month in advance. A pick-up option is in the works, too.
