One of Vancouver's most popular high-end restaurants is about to get a new next-door sibling at a prime Yaletown location.
Elisa, the posh steakhouse operated by the restaurant group Toptable, is getting a new offshoot butcher shop and grab-and-go spot called "Luigi & Sons."
Luigi & Sons is moving in at 1119 Hamilton Street, which had previously been home to Urban Thai Bistro, which ended its long tenure in the space in 2019.
We had reached out to Toptable back in November for details about Luigi & Sons and they didn't respond, however new job listings for the venture explain the project as follows: "A new boutique retail space that will provide freshly cut meats, grab-and-go selections, as well as house-made provisions – an extension of the Elisa Steakhouse family."
Looks like that "extension" of Elisa includes a second indoor live-fire station: "We have lit our second Grillworks Infierno - a new addition to Elisa that will be a part our new dining space and Butcher Shop," the steakhouse touted on its social media earlier this month.
Elisa opened in late 2018, having replaced a one-time Milestones at the corner of Hamilton and Helmcken. The intersection is definitely dominated by Toptable now; its renowned seafood restaurant Blue Water is on Hamilton right across Helmcken from Elisa. Toptable, which has been owned by Vancouver's high-profile Aquilini Group since 2014, operates several high-end restaurants, bars, and cafes in Vancouver, Whistler, and even New York City, with plans for a new concept in downtown Victoria long in the works as well.
Hopefully Toptable will have more info for us to share in the coming weeks as Luigi & Sons continues the hiring process and finishes up the space ahead of its launch. We'll keep you posted!
