King Taps sets 'hard launch' date for its long-awaited Lonsdale Quay location

The Cactus Club sibling has a sprawling two-storey restaurant space in the revamped market and retail hub on the North Shore waterfront

After months, even years of anticipation, King Taps, the boisterous sibling to North Vancouver's own Cactus Club, is ready to welcome guests to its sprawling 10,500-square-foot, two-level anchor restaurant located in the revitalized Lonsdale Quay market and food hall.

Opening date for King Taps Lonsdale Quay is officially set for May 27, and reservations are open now.

Cactus Club opened its first King Taps in downtown Toronto in 2017 and a Kelowna location in 2022.

Just last month, King Taps opened the doors to its first Metro Vancouver location with the April 3 debut of the concept in a standalone space at Langley's Willowbrook mall.

What's on the menu at King Taps?

When it comes to food, the King Taps menu is about approachable eats which reflect the concept's ethos of being a spot to hangout and socialize. Overall, King Taps isn't reinventing the upscale-casual restaurant wheel, but it does come to the party a little more loose and ready to play than its big brother, Cactus Club.

You'll find things like fried shrimp tacos, an excellent Caesar salad with a tender fried chicken cutlet, a trio of supple meatballs, and a super creamy play on a Carbonara pasta, along with salads, burgers, and sandwiches.

King Taps' signature offering is its pizza, which is available in nearly a dozen iterations, including the popular "Stinging Bee," with Soppressata, Kalamata olives, and a hint of Calabrian honey. Modifications like gluten-free crust and a choice of dipping sauces are all available for an additional charge.

From the bar, expect regional craft beers (from 30 taps) and wines as well as cider, classic cocktails, sugar-free margaritas, and even a large sangria for sharing.

'A view from every seat' at Lonsdale Quay location

The new North Shore King Taps has much in common with its Langley predecessor, including its interior designer, McKinley Studios. What Lonsdale Quay has in spades are stellar waterfront views, maximized by both the upper-level dining area and the location's two all-season patios. The restaurant seats 325, and operators promise "a view from every seat," according to the opening announcement press release.

Additionally, King Taps Lonsdale Quay will put a spotlight on Canadian artists, with eye-catching works by Claude “Rocky” LaRock, Graham Gillmore and East Vancouver’s Tyler Toews in the restaurant.

Restaurant offerings also include Happy Hour, offered daily from both 2 to 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close with deals on select drinks and eats. Brunch is served weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with Brunch Happy Hour from 10 a.m. to noon. Take-out will be fired up later this summer, but will be available for both pick-up and delivery.

Lastly, as King Taps is a gathering place with an emphasis on socializing and hanging out, they aim to be a go-to destination for catching sports on its 17 screens and projectors.

King Taps is located at 123 Carrie Cates Court, Unit 141, in North Vancouver and will be open Moday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Thursday and Friday from 11 to 1 a.m., Saturday from 10  to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight.
