La Taqueria

Having lived in Los Angeles for a few years and having access to some of the best tacos in the world, I came to be a bit of a taco snob. I've never been that big on sushi, I'm not one of the many Vancouverites who can tell the subtle differences between good and bad sushi establishments (which are probably not-so-subtle to the honed-in lover of this type of Japanese food), but I can sniff out a legit taco stand from blocks away. There's a couple of super good ones in the city run by El Salvadorians but La Taqueria is pretty much the best place to get tacos in Vancouver right now.

La Taqueria on Hastings hosts all of the amazing authenticness of real Mexican tacos made by real Mexican cooks with the added bonus of having a bunch of locally sourced meats in em. Their De Lengua tacos contain beef tongue from cows out in Pemberton Meadows, their Al Pastor is made with marinated Chilliwack pork and their Pescado is often Pacific sourced fish. Below are a couple of images of some of the mouthwatering fare available INCLUDING horchata which is, for some reason, hard to come by in Vancouver. Perhaps I'll do a full post on horchata in the future as it's rare because most people don't even know what it is, never mind crave it!
