'We are heartbroken': Michelin-recognized restaurant in downtown Vancouver announces closure

It closed after less than three years.

A Michelin-recommended restaurant has closed after nearly three years in downtown Vancouver.

Archer, located at 1152 Alberni St., announced on social media it has closed permanently.

"After two and a half incredible years on Alberni Street and the honour of being recognized twice by the Michelin Guide, we are heartbroken to share that Archer has closed its doors," reads the post.

It's the end of Archer, but the team behind it are hoping it leads to something new.

"While this chapter has come to an end, we see it not as a goodbye, but as a pause as we thoughtfully consider what’s next," reads the post.

They go on to thank their staff and customers.

Archer opened at the end of September 2022 in the former Pink Elephant Thai space, the creation of Karen Ho and Iain Bell (from 6 Degrees Eatery).

Archer's dishes were designed to be eaten family style; the menu encouraged mix-and-matching dishes to be enjoyed by the whole table. The food aimed to highlight the Pacific Northwest and the region's farmers, fishers and food producers.
