Restaurant offering 'ultimate noodle experience' closes in downtown Vancouver

There are still a couple of locations around for the noodle shop.
The international chain Chef Hung has closed its Taiwan Bistro 990 restaurant location in downtown Vancouver.

Those seeking Chef Hung's noodles have one less location where they can find them in Metro Vancouver.

The Taiwanese noodle chain has shut down Chef Hung Taiwan Bistro, less than two years after it opened at 990 Smithe St.

The beef noodle restaurant was a new twist on the chain's usual concept, Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodle. Several of the noodle shops remain in operation across Metro Vancouver, including in Kerrisdale,  offering "the ultimate beef noodle experience" according to their website.

While the downtown Vancouver "Bistro" location is still listed on the company's site, the storefront is papered up and orders are no longer accepted via online delivery apps. It's also been removed from their Instagram bio.

In September a sign on the front door noted it was temporarily closed, but it appears it permanently closed instead.

The location on Smithe was previously the home to Japanese restaurant Kamei Baru, which shuttered in October 2021.
