Burrata, the semisoft Italian cheese made with mozzarella and cream, is the centrepiece at the second floor bar at the new Robba da Matti restaurant location in Kitsilano.

For its just-opened fourth location, local Italian restaurant mini-chain Robba da Matti has gotten really, really cheesy.

Specifically, the newest branch of the Yaletown-born pasta-centric operation features what the restaurant touts as Vancouver's only "burrata bar," and they officially opened for business Monday, June 6.

Situated in Kitsilano at 1898 W. 1st Ave., Robba da Matti's newest outpost is home to its "Passaparola" option, showcasing the semisoft, decadent Italian cheese made with mozzarella and cream.

"We are going to take your taste buds on a journey with delicate fresh burrata, paired with the finest ingredients. Come and experience Italy's 'luxury of the culinary art,'" entices Robba da Matti on its social media feeds.

The burrata bar is on the second floor of the restaurant, while diners downstairs in the main dining room can enjoy Robba da Matti's regular offerings.

The menu at Robba da Matti focuses on traditional Italian dishes, including handmade pasta, risotto, and antipasti, along with hearty mains, and plenty of wine. The West End location, on Haro Street, also serves weekend brunch. The restaurant got its start - under a different name - in 2011.

Robba da Matti has on its roster its original Yaletown address, their second outpost in the West End, and a third location in Gastown, and now this fourth spot in Kitsilano. This location has been in the works for several months in the space that was previously home to Cacao - the Latin venture that closed down suddenly in summer 2019
