MONTREAL — The top two teams in the CFL standings don’t have a lot in common — except for the fact they just keep finding ways to win.

WINNIPEG — The CFL says air quality is improving in Winnipeg for a game between the Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts. Forest fire smoke from northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba has drifted into the Manitoba capital.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks are aware, with one-third of the CFL season behind them, that they're in must-win territory to have a chance at the playoffs.

OTTAWA — Relief washed over the Ottawa Redblacks Thursday night as they finally snapped a four-game losing streak with a convincing 31-11 win over the Calgary Stampeders.

WINNIPEG — Mike O’Shea will field a revamped roster when the Blue Bombers host the Toronto Argonauts and try to end a three-game losing skid Friday. Injuries factored into some changes, including one that has some fans scratching their heads.

TORONTO — The CFL has fined Saskatchewan defensive back Tevaughn Campbell for a high hit on Edmonton Elks quarterback Cody Fajardo.

The Ottawa Redblacks come off their bye week with starter Dru Brown in tow. Brown (neck) will start when the Redblacks (1-6) host the Calgary Stampeders (5-2) on Thursday night.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without starter Zach Collaros when they face the Toronto Argonauts on Friday night.

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Redblacks return from a bye week looking to reboot a season slipping away.

TORONTO — Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris and Calgary Stampeders defensive back Damon Webb earned top honours for July in the CFL's honour roll announced Wednesday. Harris was the top offensive player, earning a grade of 92.
