Here's another archival photo courtesy of the City of Vancouver Archives. This one is of a woman standing on a bridge in Stanley park around the year 1889. A lot of things change rapidly in this city but some remain at least a bit close to the same.

Here's an interesting history tidbit for anybody who's ever gone to the horse races at Hastings Park: they used to race cars there! It was on and off on this 1 mile dirt oval, with cars racing in 1907, 1911 to 1916, and then 1918 to 1927.
