A six-month investigation by Burnaby RCMP’s drug section has resulted in the seizure of a large amount of street drugs, tens of thousands of dollars in cash and two luxury vehicles.

On June 17, Burnaby RCMP officers executed a search warrant on a residence in the 3200-block of Napier Street in East Vancouver, said a news release. Police made two arrests, including a Burnaby resident and a Richmond resident.

As shown in the photograph above, several hundred pieces of street level drugs believed to be fentanyl and cocaine were seized.

Two high-end vehicles and tens of thousands of dollars in cash were also seized.

“These drugs were packaged, ready to be sold on streets across the Lower Mainland,” police said in the statement. “The accused were believed to be managing several dial-a-dope phone lines that are part of an elaborate network of people who are alleged to be distributing these drugs to communities around the Lower Mainland.”

Burnaby RCMP officers have been targeting those involved in the street level drug trade and in particular, those who deal in fentanyl, the statement said. “There needs to be consequences to dealing in and profiting from a product which is killing so many people,” says Insp. Matt Toews with Burnaby RCMP. "While enforcement is not the entire solution to this crisis, Burnaby drug section is committed to keeping these harmful drugs off of our streets.”

Charges will be forwarded to BC Prosecution Service in relation to this investigation.
