Downtown Vancouver Costco food court will soon require membership

Say goodbye to grabbing a $1.50 hot dog before the game or show if you don't have a Costco card.

For years the Costco in downtown Vancouver has opened its food stand to the public.

The American retail chain is members only, but the downtown Vancouver location's food stand opens to the sidewalk on Expo Boulevard and allows anyone to purchase food, including its famed $1.50 hot dog and pop deal.

Because of the low cost menu, it's become a popular stop for many in the area for an event and looking to skip the prices inside Rogers Arena or BC Place, which are nearby. The concession stand is often busy serving guests who membership holders and the general public.

Signs installed this week at the food stand indicate the membership-free access will be coming to an end.

"Effective August 5, 2025, an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items from our food court," read the signs.

The signs then guide people to sign up for a membership, which starts at $65 per year.
