Havana, a popular Latin American eatery on Commercial Drive, has shuttered temporarily after one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Management was informed of the news Monday night from one of its affected back-of-house staffers. The restaurant has since been closed to the public.

"Due to our protocols of mask-wearing, regular cleaning, and sanitation, Vancouver Coastal Health believes that this case is of low risk, especially to any guests," a statement on Havana's website reads.

The restaurant is not listed on VCH's COVID-19 public exposures list.

"We have voluntarily decided to close temporarily. We will use this time to allow all of our staff to self-monitor and get tested," it continued.

No reopening date has been set for the eatery, located at 1212 Commercial Dr.
