Vancouver was recently named one of the healthiest cities in the world in a recent ranking by Travel Supermarket.
The travel tool compares cities around the world based on myriad factors, including the number of spas, gyms, fitness centres, yoga and pilates centres, health food shops, vegan option restaurants, parks (green space) and the average sunlight hours. In addition, the tool factors in the cost of a one night stay in a hotel. The website also states that the score, "has been established using the density of each healthy metric in the city."
Despite being famous for wine, smoking, and buttery croissants, Paris topped the list of the world's healthiest places. Besides having numerous green spaces and parks, the city is noted for its ample and luxurious spa experiences. The description notes that the 'City of Lights' offers an incredible range of spa experiences, as well as mouth-watering cuisine.
Following Paris, came Chiang Mai, Thailand in second, which was also noted for its world-class spa treatments. In addition, the city was highlighted for its yoga and pilates retreats, as well as having a great deal of sunlight throughout the year.
Vancouver came fifth, and the ranking notes that, "Vancouver’s epic surroundings offer a refreshing dose of the great outdoors." What's more, there are a vast number of gyms, spas and vegan eateries scattered throughout the city, which factor in the city's high ranking.
