Vancouverites can’t seem to get enough of memes spawned by the barge at large in English Bay.
It all started on Nov. 15 when a major windstorm knocked the barge off its moorings and sent it up onto Sunset Beach. Since then the barge has made national headlines, it has at least two online personas and still remains perched on the rocks despite an attempt at its removal earlier this week.
The effects of the storm have been much more devastating than simply bringing a barge to Vancouver though. Floods have wreaked havoc in much of southern B.C., submerging entire communities like Merritt and Abbotsford which are still in the midst of a long recovery.
At the same time, the barge has provided a bit of much-needed lightheartedness to news feeds for locals. Here are some of our favourites!
