BC Hydro is reporting several power outages across the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island due to powerful winds.
On Tuesday (Nov. 9), the power authority states that the region is seeing significant outages in Metro Vancouver from strong winds overnight. The B.C. storm has reportedly damaged a few transmission lines on the North Shore. Work is underway to repair the damage, which includes three poles that need to be replaced, in order to restore power to customers in the area by 4 p.m.
All available crews have been mobilized and will work to restore power to other affected customers in the region as quickly as possible. Individual restoration times will be provided as soon they are available.
The most recent outage shared by BC Hydro in the City of Vancouver is affecting 1,350 customers in the Dunbar-Southlands area. The outage was reported at since 9:12 a.m. and crews are working to restore power.
